Mia and Dakota

pitbulls

Mia and Dakota are both rescued pitbulls that came into my life in very different ways. Mia, a chocolate pitbull, was rescued from a chain (attached to a stop sign) where she was left for dead five years ago.

At less than 1 year old, she was very dog aggressive when she came home with me, but with a lot of leadership and patience, she is now a model for balance in our home.

Mia often accompanies me to visits with small dogs to assist in their socialization. Mia’s wonderful spirit and balanced energy are a blessing to our pack and to my heart.
Dakota a fawn pitbull came to me from Bryant Animal Services where she had been picked up as a stray and was scheduled to be euthanized in three days (2 years ago). I contacted the shelter and made arrangements to meet her the next day. What I found was a beautiful pitbull with a spirit to match. I adopted her there on the spot and two days later she came home with me to join my pack, where she has blossomed into a wonderfully happy pitbull that still acts like a puppy. Dakota is a very active and playful pitbull that makes everyday a blast.
Mia and Dakota share our home with a Quaker Parrot and 7 other rescue dogs:

I, as well, possess a pit-bull who could be the most caring animal I’ve ever owned. Quickly, a brand new dog breed will can come together for that media to blast, as they have carried out rotties and dobies in past many years. Unfortunate that media sensationalism breeds a lot inaccurate data.

Bruce was rescued from a neglectful situation. He had been hit by a car, but his owner did not take him to the veterinarian. When we saw him, it was obvious that he had serious injuries as he would not move and would barely turn his head.

He was immediately taken to the vet. He had a fractured pelvis and a dislocated hip.

What a trooper he was! And now, after having surgery to correct his hip injury, he is living life to the fullest and putting all that other stuff behind him.

Luckily, Bruce has had the best care possible after surgery from Vet Tech Jenifer, who is fostering him until the lucky family to adopt him is found.
