THE ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE

Dogs are born for action. Hunters, herders, retrievers, ratters and Heinz-57s all like to have an agenda.

And they’re self-starters. If there’s nothing to do, they’ll take up a hobby: gardening, shoe lab, public speaking, that sort of thing. So, why not give them a job as your personal trainer?

The fact that you and Ol’ Duke get a workout would be one advantage. (more…)

Two-year-old handsome hound: This silly, happy fellow is Gomer Pyle.

He is a very dapper doggy, dressed in stylish tan and white.

He has white paws and a cute white spot on the tip of his tail.

Gomer appears to have a high energy level and would adapt well in a home that could provide plenty of exercise or a fenced in yard in which to romp.

Come see if this silly guy is the one for you!

GREGARIOUS GREGORY – This 1-year-old shy but happy fellow is such a delight to be around.

When you first approach him, he is a coy boy, but once he sees the leash, he becomes your fast friend. Gregory loves to visit the shelters dog park with doggy and human friends.

He appears to get along with dogs and is very affectionate with people. He seems to have a medium activity level which fits in with a variety of lifestyles.

Additionally, he is at full adult size but isn’t too big. He has an adorable, cupie doll puppy look to him that he wont grow out of.

Sassy

sassyOur story is one I’m sure you’ve heard a thousand times. My husband cannot leave an animal stranded anywhere. He picked Sassy up about two months ago in West Little Rock. She was wandering and scared in the middle of the street. She jumped right into his car and rode like a champ! She is amazingly calm in the car! Since then, we did all we could to find her previous home, but have not been successful. We now want to help her on her way to a wonderful life with a new family.

She’s healthy, happy and her favorite pastime is chewing! Maybe it’s the puppy in her or maybe it s the Lab in her, but she’s quite accomplished with this talent! She is an extremely loving and well-mannered young lady. She responds to commands very well. She learns quickly. We are not sure whether she is housetrained because we have to keep her outside due to the many other pets we have. She has been to the veterinarian, has been spayed and is current on vaccinations. She tested negative for heartworm disease.

Wendall is a male, tricolor terrier mix puppy that was found running through traffic on Main Street in downtown North Little Rock.

Had he not been picked up, his outcome would not have been so happy. He is about 3 months old.

He resides with 3 cats and 2 dogs. He tries to be the "big" dog but is really a scaredy cat. He is very well-behaved for a puppy but does love to run around and play with others. He loves to nap in a lap and sleeps in a crate at night.

He is in potty training. He does great in a secure fence with other dogs around. He is very loyal, is learning to walk on a leash and is always a couple steps behind you.

He looks like the dog in the movie "Because of Winn Dixie." The dog is a Picardy Shepard, so Wendall may be a a rare, little street treasure.

He is up-to-date on shots and will be neutered.
