WITTMAN, Ariz. — An 80-year-old Arizona woman has been found living with 104 mostly dead or dying cats.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s officials say 10 cats were dead in the freezer and many others were diseased or dying inside Lucienne Touboul’s home in Wittman, about 30 miles northwest of Phoenix.

Sheriff’s spokesman Jeff Sprong says Touboul was taken to a hospital for a medical evaluation because the cats had a disease that can be given to humans. He says Touboul also will undergo a mental evaluation and could face charges of felony animal cruelty and threatening to kill deputies if they touched the cats. (more…)

The national spotlight is nothing new to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery, and it is once again shining on him.

It was his use of technology that landed Montgomery national attention in the last few months as an America’s Most Wanted All-Star nominee, and it was that same technology that helped capture two of the nation’s most notorious animal abusers.

The award, which recognizes law enforcement, fire and rescue first responders, has been given out since 2005 by the Fox Network television show. A clip of the show featuring Montgomery is available here. (more…)

Wendall is a male, tricolor terrier mix puppy that was found running through traffic on Main Street in downtown North Little Rock.

Had he not been picked up, his outcome would not have been so happy. He is about 3 months old.

He resides with 3 cats and 2 dogs. He tries to be the "big" dog but is really a scaredy cat. He is very well-behaved for a puppy but does love to run around and play with others. He loves to nap in a lap and sleeps in a crate at night.

He is in potty training. He does great in a secure fence with other dogs around. He is very loyal, is learning to walk on a leash and is always a couple steps behind you.

He looks like the dog in the movie "Because of Winn Dixie." The dog is a Picardy Shepard, so Wendall may be a a rare, little street treasure.

He is up-to-date on shots and will be neutered.
