Flower, Wintergreen and Albert

January 15, 2010 By: kwilliams Category: Adopt a Pet

winter-flower-albert1+These three puppies were discovered as strays and ended up staying with the folks in Sweet Home who have too many animals to care for properly.

They are black labrador (mixes) and are beautiful, healthy kids now, about 14-15 weeks old.

Here is more from their foster Mom, Lis:

flowermugFlower is a gung-ho, ready for anything kinda gal! She is happy all the time and loves to play. She loves to give kisses and eat treats.

She gets along with all my other animals, but does bark at the cat. She can be outside or inside, she is happy either way.

And she is absolutely beautiful! Her hair is very silky, shiny and coal black.

wintergreenmugWintergreen is a reserved little gentleman.

He does not beg but will eat treats when offered. He is quiet and very calm.

He is still a little timid, and definitely close to his sister. I think he would do wonderfully in a calm household. He appears to be submissive and likes doggie company. He also loves to be held and petted.

albertmugAlbert seems to be a confident pup. He has not really let me touch him, but he does not run from me, he just quietly avoids me.

He was definitely glad to see his siblings today when he was brought to our home to join them.

We will be learning more about him in the days ahead.”

COLLEGE DOGS04

LOS ANGELES TIMES

ORANGE, Calif. — A Chapman University student group wanted to find a way to relieve stress during finals week, so they came up with an innovative approach: puppies.

On Wednesday, in the middle of “cram week,” a bunch of puppies will be stationed outside the university library for students to pet and play with. The event is being organized by the university’s Active Minds club, which promotes mental awareness.

“It has been proven that having a dog helps relieve stress, so we thought it would be a cute idea if we brought some furry friends on campus,” said Jennifer Heinz, a sophomore and integrated educational studies major who helped organize the event. (more…)

THE CHICAGO TRIBUNE

Katie Popovich recently accompanied her boyfriend to a Chicago animal shelter in search of a dog. When a beagle-border collie mix immediately nuzzled against them, they were smitten.

But the 22-year-olds received a considerably chillier response from the human behind the counter. “It seemed like we were instantly thrown into this category that we were just kids and not responsible,” she said, adding that they are now talking with breeders. (more…)

Wendall is a male, tricolor terrier mix puppy that was found running through traffic on Main Street in downtown North Little Rock.

Had he not been picked up, his outcome would not have been so happy. He is about 3 months old.

He resides with 3 cats and 2 dogs. He tries to be the "big" dog but is really a scaredy cat. He is very well-behaved for a puppy but does love to run around and play with others. He loves to nap in a lap and sleeps in a crate at night.

He is in potty training. He does great in a secure fence with other dogs around. He is very loyal, is learning to walk on a leash and is always a couple steps behind you.

He looks like the dog in the movie "Because of Winn Dixie." The dog is a Picardy Shepard, so Wendall may be a a rare, little street treasure.

He is up-to-date on shots and will be neutered.
